FORFAR INDOOR SPORTS - SENIOR ICE TECHNICIAN
Summary of the Senior Ice Technicians Duties:
1. Reporting to Directors of The Forfar Indoor Sports.
2. Be fully responsible for ice plant set-up, shut-down and off season maintenance.
3. Prepare the rink surface to acceptable curling conditions by the date agreed prior to the end
of the previous curling season.
4. Maintain a schedule of ice team staff to ensure all sessions are adequately pebbled, nipped,
scraped as required to maintain quality ice conditions at all times.
5. Maintain the ice plant and maintenance equipment for proper operation and take appropriate
corrective action to maintain curling condition.
6. Perform periodic major ice maintenance as required.
7. Responsible for the training and regular supervision of the Ice Team for scraping, cleaning,
pebbling and nipping requirements. Advise and assist the Managing Director on the hiring of
the Assistant Ice Technicians.
8. Responsible for training and regular supervision of ice helpers in the preparation of ice
between draws, pebbling, nipping and mopping and for the preparation of written
performance evaluations for each Ice employee at the end of the season.
9. Be available by home phone, mobile phone, text or e-mail as needed.
10. Ensure Health & Safety measures are undertaken and adopted within the ice teams working
practices.
11. Attend ice committee and management meetings as required to provide a report on the ice
conditions, ice team staffing and competitions.
12. Be present at agreed times at major competitions and leagues and major competitions/games
to monitor ice conditions and staff as requested by the Managing Director.
13. Assist Forfar Indoor Sports administrative staff with Ice Bookings, competitions and the
coaching group and ensure that score cards are available for each game and collections of ice
fees are administered.
14. Assist the Ice Team in maintaining ice conditions suitable for ice skating in Ice World.
15. Submit curling ice maintenance schedule to the Managing Director, prior to calendar
preparation and distribution.
16. Assist the bar staff when required during curling session cross-overs.
17. Assist with curling equipment sales and maintaining stock.
