CASDA In Your District

For the last 18 months, CASDA has
    been working with the administrative
team and teachers in the Hoosic
    Valley Central School District to
    improve student achievement,
    develop strong systems of
    assessment and progress
    monitoring, and to support literacy
    interventions for struggling readers.
CASDA's Sue Stoya is working closely

    with the special education teachers
    to implement instructional practices
    that support students with learning
    challenges.

CASDA is also assisting Waterford-Halfmoon Jr/Sr High School in creating a school-wide writing
initiative, working closely with the administrative team to plan for professional and curriculum
development to improve student writing in all content areas. In addition, CASDA's John DeGuardi
joined Stoya in presenting workshops on argument writing across the curriculum areas during the
    district's March Superintendent's Conference Day.

With CASDA's help, the Heatly School in Green Island UFSD is implementing a stronger, consistent

reading and writing program at the elementary level. Stoya has provided professional development
for teachers, collaborated with the administrative team and provided embedded coaching for the
    teaching staff.

This is just a sampling of the literacy work CASDA's faculty has provided to districts throughout the
Capital Region. To learn more about how we can help your district, call CASDA Executive Director
Michael Piccirillo, Ed.D. at 518.512.5198 ext 6222 or visit www.casdany.org/literacyservices.
