My salutations to the lotus feet of teacher Shri Shankarananada whose only objective of life is to

swallow the shark called great delusion (ignorance of Self) along with its effects (the plurality

appearing as a world of names and forms).

Introduction

Consciousness, which is the substratum of this Universe, is imagined to be a piece of cloth and this

Universe is painting on this cloth. Just as any picture is seen in the light of a lamp, this picture or
painting of Universe on Consciousness is to be seen in the light of Knowledge. Hence this chapter is

titled ‘Painting in the Light of Knowledge - Lamp’.
