73. Scriptures say that the intellectual-sheath is this Atman. The whole world in the form of birth
and death, pleasure and pain belongs to the intellect.

iv}anm! = intellect; ]i[km! = momentary; n AaTma = not Atman; iv*ut!- Aæ-inme;vt! = like a flash
of lightning, breaking of a cloud, or winking of an eye; ANySy AnuplBxTvat! = due to the non-
existence of anything permanent; zUNym! = void; maXyimka> = Buddhists; jgu> = say.
74. The Madhyamikas (Buddhists known as Shunyavadins) say that the intellect is momentary like
a flash of lightning, breaking of a cloud, or the winking of an eye, and it is not Atman. And due to
the non-existence of anything permanent, (void alone being permanent), void is Atman.

Ast! = non existent (void); @v = alone; #dm! = this; #it = thus; AadaE = in the beginning; #dm! =
this; @v = only; ïutm! = say scriptures; tt> = therefore; }an-}eyaTmkm! = perception and objects of
perception; svRm! = all; jgt! = world; æaiNt-àkiLptm! = creation of illusion.
75. They (Buddhists) quote the scriptures, 'In the beginning all this was non-existent (Asat) alone'
and say that perception and the objects of perception, and this entire world is a creation of illusion.
(Thus, Asat alone is Atman.)
