6. The clothes of the people in a picture are of different kinds. The clothes are painted such that they
appear as real clothes (but actually they are only an appearance).

forms (embodied beings) superimposed on pure Consciousness; kLPyNte = are considered; jIv-
naman> = as Jivas; b÷xa = many and varied; s<sriNt = go through the process of transmigration;
AmI = they (Jivas).
7. Many and varied forms are superimposed on pure Consciousness. In each of these forms, there is
a manifestation of pure Consciousness (Chidabhasa). These manifestations are considered as Jivas
which go through the process of transmigration.

transmigration of Jiva; ict!-gtm! = belong to pure Consciousness; ivÊ> = imagine.
8. Just as ignorant people say that the colors appearing like the clothes of the figures are real
clothes, as real as the canvas on which the picture is superimposed; in the same way, the ignorant
imagine that the transmigration of the Jiva belong to the Supreme Self (the substratum, on which
the Jivas are superimposed).
