                        MIAMI VA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM


        Violet Lagari-Libhaber, DO

          Dr. Violet Lagari-Libhaber was named Chief of the
        Endocrinology Section/Medical Service at the Miami VA
        Healthcare System in March of 2017 after spending 7
        years serving Veterans and expanding diabetes,
        endocrinology and related telehealth services for South
        Florida Veterans. She completed her internal medicine
        residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center and fellowship
        training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at
        the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital/
        Miami VAMC in 2010. She has been involved with bring-
        ing awareness to the diagnosis and proper management of
        diabetes and endocrine disorders at the Miami VA and
        also serves on the Women Veterans Program Committee and the Telehealth Advisory
        Committee.
          She is the Associate Program Director for the JMH/University of Miami
        Endocrinology fellowship program, and is involved with teaching/mentoring of med-
        ical students, residents and fellows. She has received recognition for Excellence in
        Endocrinology Fellowship Teaching and Training – she was awarded the Mentor of
        the Year in 2015 and Teacher of the Year in 2016.
          “It is a great honor to take care of this country’s heroes at Miami VAHS,” she said.
        “I am humbled every day that I walk into work and have the opportunity to provide
        the best care to our Veterans.”

        Michael Sanfilipo, MD

          Dr. Michael Sanfilipo joined the Miami VAHS in 2009
        and was named the Assistant Chief of Psychiatry in 2014
        where he helps lead teams in our inpatient unit, fast track
        mental health services, behavioral health clinic, outpa-
        tient substance abuse clinic and mental health intensive
        care management programs. In addition to his clinical and
        administrative roles, Dr. Sanfilipo is also an accomplished
        medical researcher, authoring 39 peer-reviewed research
        articles, nine as first author in topics such as multiple
        sclerosis, schizophrenia, PTSD, neuroimaging, MRI meth-
        ods, biostatistics, and neuropsychology.
          “My work at the Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) has been meaningful
        and enjoyable because I like working with Veterans, who have been willing to or have
        actually put themselves in harm’s way to protect our country,” he said. “Working at
        the VHA also has been enriching personally and professionally due to the capability
        to treat veterans using a “whole person” and patient-centered approach, the ability to  PBCMS salutes our doctors for
        work with dedicated colleagues and employees, the availability of important medical
        resources, the wide variety of the type of work needed, and the abundant opportuni-  their skill, wisdom and dedication

        Zeina Nahleh, MD


          Zeina Nahleh, M.D., is Chair of the Department of
        Hematology-Oncology and Director of the Cleveland
        Clinic Florida Maroone Cancer Center, which is national-
        ly recognized as “high performing” by U.S. News &
        World Report. Dr. Nahleh leads a multidisciplinary team
        of cancer specialists including surgeons, hematologists
        and radiation oncologists, treating patients with solid
        tumors and hematologic malignancies.

          Dr. Nahleh earned her medical degree from the American University of Beirut. Her

        Beirut, Lebanon, followed by another Internal Medicine residency and a fellowship in
        Hematology and Oncology at George Washington University School of Medicine in
        Washington, DC. She holds a double American Board certification in Hematology and
