Jupiter Medical Center’s Margaret W. Niedland Gastro Health, LLC Announces
Breast Center Becomes an Official Sponsor of the Acquisition of South Palm GI
Lighthouse Dragons SOS Dragon Boat Team
The Lighthouse Dragons SOS Dragon Boat Team is pleased to announce Jupiter
Medical Center is now the exclusive hospital sponsor of the nonprofit organization
that brings together breast cancer survivors and offers them physical fitness and
empowerment through the life-affirming sport of dragon boating.
“We are thrilled that Jupiter Medical Center’s Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center
has come on board to support our ladies and our mission of community, camaraderie
and competition,” said Debbie Brooks, a breast cancer survivor who first discovered
dragon boating while living in the Miami area. She founded the local team in 2015
after moving to Palm Beach County. “Many of our team members received their treat-
ment at Jupiter Medical Center, so it’s very special that the hospital is helping former
patients as they find wellness and an active life after breast cancer.”
Dragon boating originated in Southern China more than 2,000 years ago and takes

at Gulf Coast Medical Center
Effective March 20, the Lee Health kidney transplant program reopened as the Lee
Health Transplant Institute at Gulf Coast Medical Center. The United Network for
Organ Sharing (UNOS) approved Lee Heath’s reactivation of its kidney transplant
program on March 1. The transplant team will perform kidney transplants from
deceased donors at this time and Lee Health is committed to reopening the living
donor program at a later date.
The transplant program has been comprehensively restructured from community-
based to health system-based to provide the highest level of quality care and safety
to patients. The new structure meets national transplant standards, and Lee Health
has established new guidelines for evaluation and selection criteria of candidates.
Lynsey Biondi, M.D., program director and fellowship trained kidney transplant
surgeon, leads the Transplant Institute. Dr. Biondi is joined by fellowship trained
kidney transplant surgeon Jacfranz Guiteau, M.D., and fellowship trained transplant
nephrologists Gautham Mogilishetty, M.D., and Shalini Saith, M.D. An administra-
tive team, anesthesiologists, intensive care units, surgical progressive care units and
other departments support the newly designed kidney transplant program.
