AROGYA FAIR 2018
ASSAM RIFLES SHOWCASES ITS EFFORTS TO PROMOTE AYUSH
The Manipur government organised AROGYA Fair and the same was
inaugurated on 6th of December by Mr N. Biren Singh, Chief Minister Of Manipur in
the presence of Mr SY Naik, Union Minister of AYUSH (IC) at City Convention Hall,
Imphal.
AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and it is claimed that not
only is this form of treatment cheaper but also has negligible side effects compared
to the allopathy form of medicine.
In the Fair, Assam Rifles also showcased the work they had done for the
upliftment of the community and the people in their area. Informing the
Chief Minister, the officer of Assam Rifles, Captain Prerak Nayar stated that
2 Assam Rifles had in one year organised three AYUSH medical camps starting from
Churachandpur district of Manipur and in the hilly regions of the state including
Singnghat and Behiang. Interestingly at Behiang villagers from Myanmar also
attended the camp as they are allowed to move 16 kms on either side under the
‘Free Move Regime’.
Most of these places are not very well connected to the main cities and at
times it’s very difficult for the district and state administration to provide with the
basic facilities and the medical requirements . Assam Rifles , true to their motto of
Friends of the North East provide the people and opportunity to experience the age
old knowledge and expertise of Ayurveda and yoga by way of such medical camps.
The officer also informed the CM about the planned medical camps in the
remote areas of state bordering with Myanmar.
