McCracken’s Notes
THE FIRST PARABLE (Pgs. 78-85)
- The first part of this parable is possibly
a description of a holy place set in the
future; Enoch seems to consider it a
description of the Watchers home also,
since at 39.8, he reveals that he is being
allowed to live there, with them.
- ’Those who do not sleep’ (see 39.12 and
71.7) are mentioned often. These are the
seraphim, cherubim, and ophannim, the non-
human angels, who do not need to sleep.
Enoch never describes them, so it is
difficult to know what he had in mind.
- Most of this parable is a description of
how four of the Watchers showed Enoch
everything.
