Truth is, when you master the basic knit stitch you will be able to create these larger-than-life designs
When we talk about the craft of knitting, gone are the days of grannies sitting on rocking chairs knitting underwear. Now what comes to mind is this: a modern crafter
with knitting needles larger than the size of a baseball bat overwhelmed by super chunky strands of yarn that cover the entire room. Challenging the notion of “less is more”, extreme knitting has proved that bigger is indeed better with its voluminous texture, providing a more luscious look than its traditional lighter counterparts. If the words extreme knitting made your eyes widen a little (we can imagine...), you can rest easy. Extreme knitting is far less scary than it sounds, but it’s only natural to think that the goliath of knitting techniques might just be a little tool-much for you. If sheer size is what’s keeping you at bay from getting your hands on this craft, as ironic as it sounds, we dare say that you need not go to the extreme in picking up this skill.
Thanks to extreme knitting extraordinaires like Anna Merinenko and Jacqueline Fink, extreme knitting has become the new black, the new yoga and quite possibly your next obsession. You can now let the beauty of the bulky yarn take centre stage in your designs without having to delve into complex patterns. Believe us when we say that bigger yarns are better (and certainly faster) to work with. You will be able to produce stellar works that make your home stand out. So go ahead — grab some giant needles, revel in those bulky yarns and get ready to knit up a storm! -x-
