After seventeen years, the eagle is back. From 1971 to 1991, the eagle

proudly served as LSTC's mascot. Prior to the eagle, LSTC sport teams
referred to themselves as the Orbits. When sports were no longer offered at
the college, the mascots faded away. In effort to build camaraderie among
students, college officials recommended a search for a new college mascot.

Students, alumni, faculty and staff were asked to choose their preferred
mascot in a survey. Unanimously, the eagle soared again. In June 2008, the
Board of Regents gave final approval to adopt the eagle as the official mascot
of LSTC.
