reduced – the importance of infant care, which is unique amongst the Clubs, was seen as a tremendous differentiator and one which must be preserved. In short, we must accommodate our current child programming and maintain the distinction between toddlers and infants while also considering older children and teens and providing them with their own space.
There was a desire to provide comfortable spaces, with fireplaces and more social seating for working, reading and socializing, particularly for non-skiers to sit and relax – a growing demographic at the Club.
The deck space was raised by numerous groups which speaks to the Club’s outdoor culture and its multi-purpose potential. Currently, the deck is primarily used for adult driven activities and people like the intimate and fun, party vibe – all aspects that should be maintained. However, the increased space also created fears that we could lose this feel and there was a desire to see this space split up into specific and distinct uses: a place for food and beverage; a place for adult driven fun (like what we have now) and a third place for more intimate/family oriented fun – all expressed a desire to have an outdoor fire pit or in a perfect world - a few of them. People also sought to utilize the deck more – create wind shields and have heat lamps so we could use it during colder temperatures. This was seen as a good way to take pressure off the indoor seating.
In addition to more seating and ensuring better use of space (storage under chairs and a lot more cubbies) people want modern amenities – USB ports, more plugs for homemade food, equipment dryers, clothing dryers and better food and beverage options with healthier, fresher and made to order options.
