reduces the chance of injury and decreases recovery time. The dedication to fitness is not a huge time commitment. Thirty minutes 3-4 times per week is all you need. It’s important that athletes are fit so they can push their limits and challenge themselves. The body needs to be able to manage all the natural forces ski racing throws at them. If you want to be a competitive ski racer you must have a passion for fitness.

Program placement criteria
Placing athletes into training groups is an exciting time at Georgian Peaks. Our goal is to place athletes in groups based on skill level. This gives the athletes an opportunity to reach their development goals at a pace they are comfortable with.
Athletes are seeded based on the following: • Club Championships results
• Previous season race results
• Skills testing
• Placement in the previous season • Former Coaches’ recommendation
Please note: any requests for children to be grouped together must be received in writing, from all families involved, by the Alpine Office by December 30th at noon.
Final Reminder – Check Your Equipment!
With the season quickly approaching please be sure to check all equipment before arriving at the hill. Have your bindings checked, and make sure your skis are sharp and tuned ready for the snow. Please check ski boots and ski lengths as children grow quickly and grow out of equipment. There is nothing worse than skiing in boots that are too tight. If you need any help with equipment please feel free to ask any of our Coaching Team. We would be happy to help.

Director of Alpine Programs
O-Cup Head Coach
Georgian Peaks U14 and U16 O-Cup athletes are well into their ski seasons. Over the summer many of the U16 athletes were part of the Alpine Ontario High Performance Program and attended training camps in Whistler and/or Chile in addition to putting in many hours a week working on their fitness and strength. Georgian Peaks also ran a summer training camp at Mt Hood, Oregon for several of the U14 athletes.
Moving into the fall, our O-Cup athletes have taken part in fitness testing and will be attending camps in Hintertux, Austria, Copper Mountain, Colorado and Mt Ste Anne, Quebec before they hit the home slopes. Current weather looks like we may be in for an epic start to the season! We also have three U16 athletes in the program that will be attending the Alpine Canada Rising Stars Camp in Panorama in December – Aleksas Valadka, Sarah Graham and Kyle Blandford (from TSC – training with GP this year). Congratulations to this group who will join athletes from all over the country for this project.
We are excited for another great season which will see U14 athletes racing in Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie, Tremblant, Whistler and locally. The U16 schedule will see
