Sentence fragments.
Using the bottom-up technique, read each sentence to see if it can
stand on its own. If you suspect a fragment, check for a subject and a
verb. If it lacks either one, it is a fragment.
Proofreading the Computer-
Generated Essay
Spelling and grammar checkers can be helpful in proofreading, but
they are no substitute for knowledge and judgment. A spelling or
grammar checker can find possible errors and suggest possible
solutions. However, it is up to you to decide what, if anything, is wrong
and how to fix it.
Even when you use spelling and grammar checkers, you should do at
least two separate proofreadings. The following sentence, in which all
words are spelled correctly, may illustrate the need:
Weather or knot ewe use a spelling checker, you knead too proof
read.
Whether to proofread on the screen or to print out a hard copy to
