Subject and Object Pronouns

1 Use subjective and objective pronouns

                                      correctly.

Personal pronouns (I, we, you, he, she, it, they) refer to specific

people or things. These pronouns take different forms, called cases,

as they perform different jobs in a sentence. Look at the example that

follows to see how the first person pronoun I changes form as its role

               in a sentence changes.

I borrowed a book from the library and forgot about it. Early this

week, the library sent me a notice saying the book was overdue.

Subject pronouns (the subjective case) are used as subjects or

subject complements. Some commonly used subject pronouns are I,

we, you, he, she, it, and they.

I know James well; we have been friends for years.

If you are looking for paper clips, they are in the desk drawer.
