13.1 INTRODUCTION

We have known that energy is available in nature in different forms like in
fossil fuel such as coal, gas, and oil; high-speed wind; falling water; sun rays,
etc. All these forms of energy can be converted into electrical energy which

can be transmitted to various places for use. Electrical energy is clean and
easily controllable.

Electricity in large quantity is produced in power houses through a
turbine–generator set. The turbines are rotated by pressurized steam or the

potential energy of water. The generator is rotated by the turbine. The
generator produces electricity which is sent for use to various places through
