JUNE DRIVE AND LUNCH through the Hinterland to Cooloola Berries
We gathered on a very chilly morning in Eumundi to be handed our instructions for the day from Will Johns – the master planner who did a great job!
After some warming coffees and conversation it was time for the OFF along some delightful country roads to a park in Kenilworth for our morning tea break.
You can see from the photos that we were a goodly crowd and there was much hubbub of chat along with the munchies.
Then it was off again – a long convoy through more pretty countryside, through Gympie and out towards Tin Can Bay before a right turn took us off to the Cooloola Berry Strawberry Farm. We could smell the fruit and the paella as we drove in. Darcy was manning the gate to show us to spacious parking on the lawn in front of the café area.
We had arrived in time to be first in the queue for lunch and most had a heaped plate of paella and salad... a small number venturing on to have waffles or pancakes with strawberries, cream, ice cream and choc or maple sauce YUMMY stuff !!!!
The day had warmed up so no one was in a hurry to leave and remained chatting until well past two o’clock. Darcy managed to grab some lunch before spending a happy hour or so showing off his latest motor, even allowing some to sit inside... a beautiful car indeed.
Then for most people it was a long drive home, but a lovely afternoon and, of course, more delightful countryside.
More thanks to Will for a great outing.
