Chad Reed qualified for the night show in pretty standard procedure this weekend in St.
Louis. The early practice times didn’t seem to bother him and he put down
the 8th fastest lap time to earn his spot on the gate for the heat races. The only thing abnormal about this qualifying was the fact that he was sitting right behind Ryan Dungey on the timesheets. In the first 450 heat race of the night, Reed recovered from a mediocre start as he battled through the pack with former 250 east title combatants, Marvin Musquin and Justin Bogle. After Weston Peick ac- cidentally jumped into the back of James Stewart and eliminated the both of them from contention, Reed was placed in a battle for the final transfer spot. He wasn’t able to capitalize off of the other rider’s misfortune and he found himself in fifth place across the finish line, just losing out on the transfer spot to the number 25 of Marvin Musquin.
