Unfortunately for Tommy, this was the scenario he faced in Oakland. After another poor start Hahn found himself moving frantically through the pack trying to get into the top four. The 3rd fastest qualifier of the day Christophe Pourcel had also gotten a bad start. These two riders would meet in a battle over the last transfer position. Pourcel would finish the race in 4th forcing Hahn to watch the main event from the stands.
