As Ryan Dungey rocketed off into the lead in the 450 main, Stewart held on to second for a moment before losing a battle with Marvin Musquin. As the race carried on Stewart would find himself battling with Roczen once again before being overtaken. As the leaders pulled ahead of him, Stewart’s focus would be moved be- hind him; as Cole Seely began to put pressure on him in the fifth lap. In the sixth lap Seely would make his move and Chad Reed would do the same, both riders overtaking Stewart. Stewart would slip back into sixth place as the crowd encouraged him to keep fighting.
In the ninth lap, the crowd would buzz as Stewart pulled off the track – frustrated, he tossed his goggles to the ground and left the arena. Although this evening may have been rough for Stewart, he is still a champion He has consistently been one of the most dominant riders in the sport for years -- he definitely has a lot of bite left – the compe- tition should never count him out.
