THE MOTOPLAYGROUND RACE
at Ponca City
NICK CLICK >> 3
Saint Clair’s own “Jolly Saint Click” came into town aboard a green steed, looking to deliver gifts of all kinds to the competition he raced. Although not check- ing the wish list and seeing what they wanted, he was more than happy to hand them as many losses and defeats as possible (all in good fun of course.) But seriously, Nick Click came to Ponca City playing for keeps, as he wanted to show these older guys what was up, and how fast he can still stand to this day. The first moto could be deemed as “The Nick Click Show” where the number 588 dashed out of the line, with all of his reindeer in single file, sleighing him around the course. Flying over breaking bumps, potholes, and ruts of all kinds, he could simply place the front end where he wanted to go, and the rest of the machine would follow. Setting the fastest lap on the second go-around, he managed to sprint away, as the others in the group were trying to fend through traffic. He was a bit con- cerned about where Monteleone and Ginolfi were the entire time, but he remained headstrong and his vision to the front. A picture perfect race was developing, and as hit the final few turns, and over the last few doubles, he knew he had the all clear sign to head off the track and back to the workshop. He’d delivered all of the gifts in plenty of time, taking home the victory. Ready to duplicate for the second moto, the crowd would re- spond a bit different than they did the first time around. Ginolfi would take the lead, with Vince in second, and Click in third. They were all in single file unison, with the trio staying relatively close. With the track becom- ing rougher, and the sun beginning to set, Click would have to duck his visor, both for the roost and to miss the beaming rays trying to blind him through his goggle lens. He would continue to push, regardless of the circumstances that mother nature was giving him. Set- ting his fastest lap on the third circuit, he realized he wasn’t going to be able to catch the front two this time around, and decided to back it down a hair on the last lap. Finishing up third in this particular race, had him placed in a bronze medal overall. Sometimes, with the racing being this close, your overall standing can be a little bit unforeseen; and that was certainly the case, as the open class brought some chaos, yet again.
