THE MOTOPLAYGROUND RACE
at Ponca City
3
A neighboring resident to this Ponca City MotoPlay- ground Race, Jackson Craig truly felt at home from the moment he walked in the gates. From the climate, soil composition, and even the concession stand food, all of it was of familiarity. He looked at the track from the outside with amazement, salivating and wondering just when he could rip it up with the fresh knobbies that
his machine would bestow. With the first moto abso- lutely full of talent, Craig had his work cut out for him, running in the eighth position. He would stay there, riding very soundly, behind the likes of Chambers,
and Brock Walker, along with Larry Reyes Jr. The field was blistering around this spectacle of a track, and he could be found launching out into straightaways as far as he possible could. Using every bit of suspension, he managed to still rummage through the traffic and pound out as many solid laps as possible, pushing
into the seventh position by lap three. With a mere one lap to go, he could see leader, Chance Hymas, off in the distance, with Shmerdon, Walker, and Chambers between. It gave him an incentive to push, pushing both mind and body to the fullest extent. Never losing sight of the goal, he would flourish when time was ticking, letting it all hang out, and closing up to the rear wheel of Jack Chambers. Setting his fastest lap on the last go around, it was Jackson Craig bringing home the fifth place ride, and already eyeing the second moto. With Hymas out front yet again, it was Jayden Clough, Craig, and Noah Shmerdon, among many others,
well inside the top five and duking it out for position.
At times, Craig wasn’t afraid to launch the largest of doubles, two and three wide, in order to secure his spot in the running order. Setting his fastest laptime on lap three, the one minute, forty-five second mark was just a mere smidge off of the leader Hymas. The track was becoming grotesque, with lines developing seemingly everywhere; around every possible turn, straightaway, and even takeoffs of the jumps. It made for some abso- lutely killer action, and Jackson Craig was elevating his pace, the rougher the track became. He would con- tinue to push, working his way into the top three by the final lap; all in all, a spectacular ride, and securing the perfect blend of moto finish, for a solid third overall.
