THE MOTOPLAYGROUND RACE
at Ponca City
DAVE GINOLFI >> 1
Fresh off of his moto win in the 25+ Class, Ginolfi was back at it yet again to reign superior within the 35 and over division. Filled with names such as Kyle Dangler, Cory Brantley, and Lucas Frye, his work would be cut out for him yet again. So he would walk to the line with a sternly solemn expression, ready
to stake his claim as one of the best “old guys” that had signed up for the event. Ginolfi’s chassis/motor combination was one for the ages, and it really dis- played its work within the opening laps. He was able to hit some of this hard, square edged chop with ferocious tenacity. He never questioned the ability of his machine to handle its duty, and would continue to upshift as the bumps got bigger. Throwing down
a one minute, fifty-six second laptime on lap number three, he wanted to truly show who was the boss of the class. The next fastest you ask? A mere five sec- onds off the pace of his pole time; leaving him with
a twelve plus second lead by lap number three. As lap number four would roll around, he would put the bike and body on cruise control, trying to save his energy for what all the weekend would have left to offer. He would go on to win the moto by a some odd sixteen-second gap. For the second round of motos, Ginolfi would again nail his start with exquisite preci- sion, rolling off the pad with absolute throttle control. With his body position a little bit further back than usual, his weight ratio would be on point, and rocket him into the lead. Setting the fastest lap of the moto on the following lap, he wanted to establish a bit of breathing room, as he knew Kyle Dangler wouldn’t be giving up behind him. Dangler, sitting second, would try his best to close in, but it just didn’t seem to be in the cards for the KTM mounted veteran. Dave would continuously click off these laps, as his memory of the amateur circuit would play a little bit of Déjà vu. Envisioning winning as a child, all the way into his pro career; it felt good for him to come back, and get a little bit of competitive fire again, put- ting a stamp on the division in the process. Ginolfi meanwhile, would go on to take yet another moto victory, solidifying the championship in his preferred manner; a clean sweep.
