“From the very beginning, our intention was to develop Indian Motorcycle into a global brand,” said Michael Dougherty, Presi- dent, International. “Armed with a strong foundation, it’s now time to break new ground for an American motorcycle manufac- turer and the FTR 1200 is where that begins.”
Although the FTR1200 Custom only serves as a light blueprint for what to expect, it’s worth noting some of the specs to create a better idea of what
to expect on the production model. The FTR1200 Custom boasted a liquid-cooled, 60-de- gree 1133cc V-twin engine that produced over 100 horsepower. It contained a two-piece carbon fiber body, LED lights, Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, and RSD Traction wheels with Dunlop DT3 track tires.
Indian has advertised the motor- cycle as a bike that offers some- thing for everyone -- utilizing the likes of both Jared Mees and Carey Hart riding the bike in var- ious locations and disciplines. The 2017 American Flat Track Champion takes the bike out
for a spin on a frozen lakebed while the former freestyle pio- neer rips around his backyard, hitting the motocross track as well as some hillside trails. It can be ridden on off-road, at the fairgrounds, and everywhere in between, creating a little bit of something for everyone.
