Ken was submerged into cold, deep waters as he took the first left hand turn in a dishearten-
ing 16th position. With an uncharacteristic-like pace, Roczen was finding great difficulty in passing each rider; he had only risen to eleventh by lap seven. Battling Peick for ninth, Roczen was given all he could handle by the JGR rider; surely enough, he capitalized and sat eighth with eight to go. Scrubbing his way to sixth by lap 17, the German would finish one spot out of the top five, a disappointing affair but living to ride another day.
