Handlebars collide off the line and Anderson gets swept into the chaotic start of the heat. Despite starting in sixth place, Anderson forces his way into the top five in the third lap and he begins to put pressure on Davi Millsaps and Marvin Musquin. Anderson brings the audience to the edge of their seats as he makes a move on Millsaps coming out of the sand section and blasts away from him. In the final two laps Anderson maneuvers around Musquin and finds himself 5 seconds behind the leaders. The battle for the lead rages on ahead of him as Anderson slides smoothly into third place.
