As the riders fought their way through the tight start to the 450 main, Anderson rocketed out of the chaos side by side with Chad Reed. Not long into the second lap, Anderson would make contact with Justin Brayton, but would ride it out; by the fifth lap Anderson begins to reel in Brayton by powering through the whoops and wall jump. Going into the sixth lap the two continued to battle viciously, leaving the crowd reeling. In the eighth lap, Anderson suddenly drops back to eleventh when he gets tangled up with Cole Seely. After his mishap, he had Weston Peick to deal with in the tenth lap. Peick strategically blocked Anderson through the whoops, but Anderson eventually found an opening and make his way all the way up to ninth place. As the race closed in on its final laps, Anderson duked it out with Justin Bogle and Pourcel; when he managed to get by both riders, he locked in a solid seventh place overall. While he didn’t make it on the podium as he had hoped – that seventh was nothing to be too hard on himself about. After having both boots on the ground in a tangle up with Seely, he could have let his race end there – but Anderson dug deep and pushed until the end of the race. El Hombre can never be counted out, especially not in the 2016 championship.
