Alessi would sneak around Eli Tomac in the first lap to take over the lead, bringing the crowd into a frenzy. By the third lap, Alessi has dropped to seventh place behind Chad
Reed. With two laps to go, Alessi works to reel in Bogle and Reed. Mike Alessi begins to reel in Bogle and Reed with two laps to go, but can’t quite catch up. He would cross the finish line right behind Trey Canard, on his way to the semis.
Mike Alessi blasts off to a holeshot as the gate drops for semi number one. Alessi holds his lead as Pourcel and Peick begin to creep up on him by the half way mark. In the final lap Weston Peick can’t quite catch Alessi who grabs the semi win – celebratory fist pumps were in order when Alessi rode past his crew members on his way off the track.
The main even in Atlanta would be a great run from Mike Alessi. He often times finds himself nabbing the hole- shot and fighting to stick with the flow of traffic, but this time Alessi stayed with the pack – he started the main off in ninth place. As the race went on he would move backwards some – but only as far as thirteenth place. Some of his other races this season have landed him in the bottom rung of the rankings, but he was able to hold on to his thirteenth place spot despite the advances of James Stewart and ride it out until the very end.
