Over the past few weeks, everyone’s favorite Aussie has, once
again, defied the online bench racers and the natural laws of time
by sustaining a top 5 pace into his mid-thirties. There are a few racers before him that have been championship contenders well into what is considered an old age for the sport, but there are none who have remained a front pack regular like Reed has. It being 2016, the #22 legacy is now going on 14 years in the United States and is nowhere close to being finished. Consistently earning numerous top 5’s, some top 10’s and a couple of podiums, the #22 Yamaha has been a beautiful sight for aging eyes, round after round. With competitive seasons for over a decade now, the Australian’s ambition
is beyond the average athlete marking him one of the greatest racers of all time. Even though Dungey’s consistency is on a level of it’s own, Reed’s career resume is littered with the same podium finishes and reliable results, comparable to the ones he’s earned this season. Actually, for the previous two weeks, he has finished in 4th place, eyeing a spot on the podium with a seasoned intensity. With the finish last weekend in Santa Clara, Reed captured 6th place in the points standings, passing an absent Cole Seely. Now, only a mere 4 points behind Musquin in 5th, Chad came into Indianapolis dawning the game face with four rounds left. If Reed puts in the effort, with unmatchable regularity to stay off the ground and battle near the front, more respectable finishes are well within his reach.
