The hometown hero looked to rekindle his amateur success and put a show on for his fans in
the “D.” Unfortunately the effort was brought to a halt before it began in heat one, as the Captain
of the NYK squad was listed as a DNS on timing and scoring.
Left with the furthest outside gate position for semi one, Wey was forced to play the hand he was dealt. He salvaged a mid-pack start and hovered near tenth in the opening laps. He began to slowly creep forward, eventually landing in seventh place;
a solid ride, but also forcing him to the LCQ.
