Roczen charging from behind in heat race number one. He would finish 4th after working hard to get the last transfer spot to the main. A good start in the main event put Roczen around the 4th place position once again. With Ryan Dungey grabbing the early lead and all the top riders starting up front, the chase was on. Ken found himself in a battle for 3rd place between Trey Canard and Eli Tomac for more than half the race. Finally making the pass stick on lap twelve, Kenny was headed towards the front. He would close the gap on second place rider Cole Seely but could not make the pass as he ran out of time. A 3rd place finish in San Diego would be Roczen’s fourth podium of the season.
