Joey Savatgy has truly broken out into stardom this year. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider has slowly been growing as a professional throughout his young career. Each season he has progressed despite fighting through some injuries here and there but all in all he continued to get better. It all led up to him earn-
ing his first supercross and moto wins of his career this year. He also emerged as one the main title contenders inside and outdoors and until last weekend, he was the commanding points leader for the outdoor series. He wore the red plate well through most races after kicking off the season with a commanding 1-1 performance at Hangtown. He showed true championship poise but at Red Bud he suffered a chink in his armor. Two crashes after leading early in the second moto set him back big time, especially a gruesome tumble after landing in some braking bumps. But after he gathered himself, showing true heart, he hopped back on the machine and limped back up to sixteenth salvaging some valuable championship points. He now sits eleven points out of the lead but if he manages to comeback and win the championship, we will look back on that valiant point-salvaging ride as the one that won the title.
