Joey Savatgy suffered a vicious crash last weekend at Red Bud and was surely still feeling the effects of that impact. The former points leader looked to get back on track and qualified very well with the second fastest
lap time in practice. Savatgy did not get the greatest of starts in the opening moto and rounded lap one buried in eleventh place. The Southwick track was tough to pass on and he just couldn’t really gain any momentum. He hopped between eleventh and tenth the entire moto before finishing in that tenth position. It was definitely not what we expected out of a rider that had high championship aspirations just a week ago. The effects of his Red Bud crash seemed to be lingering.
