The TY-E is a result of Yamaha’s advanced development as a part of the company’s “Evolving R & D” activities. This allows the staff to utilize 5% of their working hours at the Research and Develop- ment division to provide voluntary and autonomous activities for creating innovation while not being bound by conventional frameworks. The brilliant minds at Yamaha faced many difficulties throughout the development of the trial model -- most notably the high output from the battery from such a small and lightweight component, as well as the ease of riding necessary to make it an enjoyable ride.
Yamaha will use the 2018 FIM Trial-E Cup as a proving grounds for the current concept bike, com- peting in France and Belgium throughout mid to late July. Kenichi Kuroyama will represent the Yamaha Factory Racing Team, gaining his experience in the IA Super class of the all Japan Trial Championship. In addition, the bike will be available for gawking and inspection at the Yamaha Motor booth in the 2018 Tokyo Motorcycle Show.
