the win ahead of a gaggle of top talent, holding off Jason Anderson and Blake Baggett to take the checkered flag first. Although Anderson has the championship to worry about, the rider out of New Mexico was easily one of
the fastest and most consistent throughout the night of racing, only finishing off the podium on one occasion. The Rockstar Husqvarna rider wrapped up the overall victory with a couple of points to spare ahead of Marvin Musquin and Eli Tomac who rounded out the podium. Things were a little more dramatic in the 250 class as Osborne and Forkner continued to add more chapters
to their blossoming rivalry. The talk of the weekend occurred in the first main event as both riders were battling for the win; Forkner had lost his back brake
and Osborne was closing in. The Husqvarna rider was eagerly searching for a way into the lead and they came together over a jump, forcing Osborne to the ground with a bloody nose. In the final main event, he was buried at the start of the race and fought his way all the way back to fifth to salvage second overall, but it was Forkner
that ended up winning the whole shebang with a total of twenty-six points, tightening up to the points to just two markers heading to Daytona.
ROUND 10 | DAYTONA
Daytona International Speedway has always been
a legendary motorsports venue whether it’s two wheels or four, but no one could
have been prepared for the dramatic night of racing that took place at the tenth round of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Championship. All of the regular 450SX contenders made crucial mistakes throughout the night of racing that put them out of contention for the main event win, opening up the doors for someone else to step onto the top step of the podium at the legendary World Center of Racing. Eli Tomac and Jason Anderson both hit the dirt on the opening lap and Marvin Musquin crashed once out of the lead, and
then another time only one
“lap later. This mixed bag of circumstances created an incredible opportunity for Justin Brayton who
found himself at the front of the field at the start, and subsequently leading the race after Musquin’s crash.
It was damage control for both Musquin and Anderson who ended up finishing fifth and seventh, respectively, but the Frenchman let a massive opportunity to make up championship points on Anderson slip through his fingers.
