teammate, Joey Savatgy, just ahead of him. The two of them attempted to disappear at the front of the field, but they came under attack from the likes of Shane McElrath and Aaron Plessinger. Although his hopes of winning the title were all but eliminated, the Troy Lee Designs | Red Bull | KTM rider stole the show from
the championship contenders as he scythed his way through the field, using his superior whoop speed in order to make multiple moves that eventually put him up front. Plessinger kept his mind focused on the task at hand and cooly accepted the fourth place finish while Cianciarulo did all that he could in order to take second place, gaining some points on Plessinger in the process. In the 450 class, it seemed as though it would be a mere formality that Jason Anderson would clinch his first 450SX Championship, but it all of that went out the window in the first corner. The New Mexico native came together with Tomac down the start straight and the Kawasaki rider’s foot peg ended up ripping four spokes out of Anderson’s wheel, forcing him into the mechanic’s area. Meanwhile, Marvin Musquin grabbed the lead and maintained the maximum amount of championship points at stake throughout the entire race, taking the win in uncontested fashion. Anderson was more than two laps down by the time his wheel was changed and he re-entered the race, salvaging a seventeenth place finish in order to salvage valuable championship points for the final round in Vegas.
ROUND 17 | LAS VEGAS
All three championships ended up coming down to the final round of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross season at Sam Boyd Stadium, creating a night of tense and intense racing. The increased depth of the 250SX division with both coasts at play formed some interesting circumstances for both the 250SX East and West Championships, providing the major contenders more competition to spoil their chances at gathering the necessary amount of points. Although both Plessinger and Osborne found themselves outside of the top ten in the early stages of the race, both of them charged forward in the early stages of
