STOCKTON STINEBAUGH – 250 C LIMITED
KILPATRICK
Throughout all the years of motocross racing, there have been very few consistent things that occur at the Loretta Lynn National Championship. One
of the constant occurrences
you ask? If you’re steady each moto, and provide results that
are undeviating, you have a shot to win the C class title. Stockton Stinebaugh took this notion, and ran with it. Leading the first moto aboard his number 41 Yamaha, a shuffling of 41 rider deck as going on behind him. Riders in dismay, never choosing a spot in the field with certainty. With everyone else hovering near the 2:08 mark, Stinebaugh was etching each
rut with precision, setting a 2:04 laptime near the end of the moto. With times like these, it was easy to see why he went on to take the moto victory. As the field loaded the gate for the second time, Stockton had bit more work to do. Coming across the line in 6th, he quickly translated into second, and then first by lap three. His line choice was unorthodox, at time railing the outside through both sand sections, all the while staying on the balls of his feet, and truly gripping the tank with his knees. The riding style would mimic gains in time, taking the checkers, and looking pretty for the final round. For the third, and final moto, Stinebaugh knew he had to just be somewhere, near the head of the field to claim gold. Starting off in 7th, Rene Rodri- guez looked to be the one head- ed to the front, as Stinebaugh would lay back. He would work his way into second, and even wavering to both Rylan Smith and Jaylend McCarty. He knew what was at stake, and if forfeiting a few positions would equate to a championship, by all means sign him up. He would finish the moto in fourth, taking home yet again, another title.
