If you think about some of the con- tenders from recent memory in the 450 B division’s, you are reminded
of some of the professional stars, of today. Bogle, Plessinger, you name
it, they’ve competed in this specific bracket. Brock Papi was hoping to add his name to the champions in this list of elite, but by doing so, he must be competitive each and every moto. That he was, beginning with the first race of the week. A third place start saw him captivating the field, taking the lead by the following lap, and then involved in a three-way joust between he, Carter Halpain, and Carson Brown. They would swap, at times hitting the double- triple section in the back in rhythmic sequence; keeping the front end high, and slapping the front fender on the tire tread. As the first two would move slightly ahead, he would remain third for the duration of the moto. Pleased, but knowing he could do more. The second round saw Papi tucked in
just behind Austin Watling, in the runner-up spot. He would hound the Canadian, so much so that the door would eventually crack, and Papi would burst in. He would then inch his way from the rest of the field, almost nicking the haybales at certain points, in order to find the optimum line around the raceway. It would pay off, as he would claim gold this time around. With Halpain having to come from the back in moto one, finishing a bit further back. Papi knew if he could just be within the top three, it would be his to lose. And that’s what he did, with Halpain trying to claim the moto victory, Papi stood just a tad behind, watching the number 17 do his thing. All he had to do was stay upright,
to claim the ultimate goal; the crisp number one plate. And he would do so, bringing home a silver medal at the line, beating his chest, knowing that he had asserted himself as the champion of the division.
