RENE RODRIGUEZ 250 C JR. (12-17) LIMITED
This division offered a new class, and title to be placed into the record books. Who was going
to be one of the first to secure their placement as champion? Rene Rodriguez threw his card into the mix, knowing he had a hefty hand hidden to reveal as the week went on. But man did he have to bluff, call the blind, and go all in to secure the victory for moto number one. Coming from tenth place on the opening lap, his quest was from ideal, but he had to lay it on the line if he wanted the title of champion. He propelled to 4th by lap two, and then quickly thereafter to second, setting the fastest laptime in the process. Making his way past Wesley Allen in the latter part of the moto, the Utah native would go on to claim the gold medal,
as he was pumped as ever. The second round saw Rene take
the early going lead, register-
ing first on the opening lap. He would pull from here on out, as Wesley Allen was nowhere to
be found. Dragging the footpeg up the infield anthill, it seems as though he was pushing, yet on a comfortable joy ride. It was like he’d been in this position before; this was déjà vu, as he claimed another victory. Moto number three, had Rodriguez being pushed back to fourth on the first lap, but quickly vaulting into the lead. He would find a little bit of turbulence on lap three, being pushed back to seventh, but somehow, someway move his way back into the lead by the last lap. Necessary? Not quite. But he wanted to put a stamp on this class, truly saying this champion- ship was his. He’d done that, and much more. It would go down in history, as he had won.
