KILPATRICK
MIKE BROWN – JUNIOR (25+)
Looking at the 25+ class, you are quick to find that this is simply a division full of ex-professional rid- ers, and is immersed with talent from top to bottom. 2017 was no different, with names like Brown, Ramsey, Stryker, Antunez, the list could go on and on. And although much older than most, Mike Brown was seeking out yet another title, this time against stiffer competition. Moto number one saw Brownie just behind Paul Perebijnos, stalking
the number 15 with fierce intent.
He would crumble, and Mike would take reign of the pack. Smooth as butter on a hot iron, Brown wasn’t making mistakes; his days of racing the GNCC and off-road tour were showing, with these ruts proving no match for the number 30. He would hold onto the lead from here on
out, and claim victory. The second round saw Brown take the green flag, setting the fastest lap on the third go-around in the process. This time, with Luke Vonlinger at bay, Brown remained strong, establishing an early gap, and then riding with the wind, putting the sails into the sky. He would cruise home, never looking back, not concerned about who was behind. He would be two for two going into the last stage. The third, and final gatedrop, saw Brown registering in a lackluster third on the opening lap. Filled with disgust, he hopped into the lead by lap two, putting down the fastest lap of the moto in the process. With the sun
of Saturday beginning to make the track a bit hardpack, Brown would proceed to lug the bike a gear tall, and get the Husky chugging along the outskirts of the layout. It was all she wrote, yet again taking the win by almost ten seconds. He complet- ed the sweep yet again, laying claim to arguably the most dominant rider at the ranch this year.
