A helluva start for the number 42, as a little bit of the confidence from teammate Shane McElrath, rubbed
off on Oldenburg, propelling him to a start inside the top five. Fourth after the ten-minute mark, Mitchell had
a sea of Green Beret’s attempting to dethrone and swipe his jersey with their metallic swords. With militia at his bay, smoke began to appear around the pack that was swarming for the pristine position. Although many thought it might be that of a grenade, it was actually Oldenburg’s KTM machine. Peeking down and spying the white cloud rumbling from his frame, he contin- ued to push on, eventually reeling in a fading McElrath. Although moving around the number thirty, Cooper Webb quickly dampened the parade by taking him wide and revamping the position he had just gained. Fending off the rest of the pack, he began to duel with Alex Martin nearing the two-lap board. With sweat dripping and heart rate pounding, he would hold on for a very respectable sixth place finish. Problems for Mitchell Oldenburg loomed over his second moto performance. All of the energy he had gather from the first race had now plummeted to minimal levels, as he sat 39th near the halfway point. The team owner’s began to applaud, as Oldenburg never showed any signs of quitting or stalling out. Each position passed, was lunged for as if it were for a title. He would go on to fin- ish 29th and a respectable 13th overall, looking forward to redeeming himself at the next round.
