Blistering out of the gate for moto one, Marvin Musquin began to slingshot with Justin Bogle after a near holeshot. The smooth, Massachusetts, sand allowed the Frenchman to keep the 450 screaming as he
scanned the course from each perimeter. Feeling an incredible amount of pressure from behind, Musquin began to peak over his shoulder, noticing the number 3 at his door. After trying to lock, bolt, and slam the barricade shut, it was of little progress, as Tomac would move around and force Musquin back to fourth. Holding fourth as they hit the halfway point, Musquin had a fellow countrymen just behind, and a Geico gecko to chase up ahead. He inched closer and closer to Bogle, eventually reading the nametag with around eleven minutes to go. Musquin’s creativity paid off once again, moving past the 19, and surprisingly closing
in on point’s leader Ken Roczen. He would run out of time however, ending the moto in third. A fourth place start in moto two had Marvin sitting pretty for a respectable overall on the day if he could hold it together. The number 51 was pushing the Northeastern wrath all along the KTM’s back fender; coming into a left hand bend however, Musquin looked to crest the outside berm with full speed. Barcia had other ideas however; as he squared the corner, sprinted towards Musquin, loaded the clutch, and drove Musquin to the ground. Remounting near the tenth position, an adrenaline dump and momentum swing caused the Frenchman to dig deep if he wanted to regenerate a positive finish. He would joust and claw his way through the field, tending to ride a gear taller and really lug the KTM around. It would allow the machine to generate a seventh position for the moto, and fourth overall on the day.
