WALK US THROUGH WHAT A FULL TIME RIDER WOULD GO THROUGH AT YOUR TRAINING FACILITY.
The most common question is “What do we do at our facility daily”
That’s a rhetorical question. And one I don’t feel comfortable saying in a magazine. Let me just say that my program changes based on what we have coming up in our race schedule. The last thing we do at MotoX is say ok “ On Monday we do Motos, and Tuesday sprints etc. etc” that kind of system gets riders bored and they get stale.
The only thing that stays the same at MotoX is the Gym trainer comes at 8 and we ride from10-3 Monday-Friday.
HOW IMPORTANT IS THE NUTRITION SIDE OF TRAINING?
Nutrition is huge in any sport, it teaches you dedication and how to be mentally strong. For me, eating right was the hardest part of the equation. Luckily for the #CompoundkidZ our gym trainer, Bubby Mitchell is excellent when it comes to a diet plan.
IT’S 2015, THE BIKES ARE FASTER, THE TRACKS GET ROUGHER, THE JUMPS ARE BIGGER, HOW IMPORTANT IS TRAINING NOW COMPARED TO WHEN THE SPORT FIRST STARTED?
It’s hard to compete against anyone these days that go to a facility like mine. We train on every type of soil, my facility is clay, but I also have a sand track down the road. We also work on the mental aspect of racing. It’s a fool proof system that I have here. The best riders, the best tracks, the best training. The riders have to get better!
WHAT LEVEL OF SKILL ARE THE RIDERS YOU TRAIN, AND HOW DOES THE TRAINING DIFFER BETWEEN THE SKILL LEVELS?
We have two groups here, a big bike group and little bike group. By having two groups I’m able to individualize exactly what each rider is doing wrong and be very detailed to their training. It works very well and is key to getting results.
AS A TRAINER, ON RACE DAY WHAT GOES ON BETWEEN YOU AND ONE OF YOUR RIDERS?
On race day I try to stay at the starting gate so I can discuss gate pick and the game plan for that particular Moto with our riders. It allows
me to remind them of how hard they have worked to get this point, how nobody has put the work in like we have. Those reminders are confidence boosters and I feel that play a huge roll in winning as many championships as our riders win.
