Webb was forced dig deep into his bag of
tricks and throw caution to the wayside if he wanted to emerge in the front of the field following the opening moments of the main event; and you guessed it, the magician
amazed yet again. The champion made quick work of the competition and quickly joined the familiar trio, consisting of Savatgy, Craig, and himself.
He had all he wanted on his plate, ready to feast and
see what the scenario would provide. As they entered the whoop section on lap two, Webb waited patiently and saw a gift that he could never imagine appear in front of him. Craig cutting inside, Savatgy having nowhere to go, Cooper saw his biggest threat crash into the cold, Texas earth; inheriting second place and a deep breath of relief. It was now time for Cooper to remain poised and realize the opportunity that had been given to him.
While most would settle and happily receive a second
place and hefty points gap, Cooper was having none of it.
Lap after lap, he stalked Christian, waiting for the perfect moment
to pounce. The kid from Carolina began to show maturity that
had been hidden for most of the season, as he remained runner-up until lap eleven where he smelt the blood of Craig and attacked.
Scrubbing speed off the 65’ triple, Craig backed down and
allowed the champion to take his throne and begin inching away. He then flipped the controls to auto pilot, and lead to the finish, taking a much-needed victory and regaining the point’s lead.
