With Iphones flashing and cannons lighting the sky with flame, the 450 main event was underway. Dungey shot out of the launch pad just behind the 94 of Roczen, and began to sniff
his fume through the opening sections. Unable to settle for second best, Dungey began to show Ken his front tread, eventually executing a swift pivot in the apex of the berm prior to the main triple. Once landing, he dove inside and pinched Roc- zen to the outside barriers in the remaining rhythm lanes, taking over the lead as they ended lap one.
Comfort is the enemy of achievement, and Dungey became well aware, as a relentless Suzuki began to pester him from behind. A wide line prior to the whoops resulted in a changing of the guard, giving Roczen the lead for the time being.
Dungey would then study the RCH rider for many of the following laps, until just a tad past the hallway point. Ryan declared he had no more time to waste, and began to make his presence known to Ken again, becoming closer and closer to the leader. Five to go and the heat began to rise tremendously; Dungey was feverishly attempting to make a move on Ken. Although he was close enough for Ken to take multiple backwards glances in the final stages, Ryan came up just a bit short and would settle for second.
