  CHARITY
This year, our charity focus has been on cultivating an attitude of gratitude at WGJS. Research shows that the positive effects of gratitude last longer than you think. In fact, people who practice gratitude are happier, more proactive and more resilient. These are some of the values that we want to instil in every Wynberg Girl.
SPCA
The year started with a woof! We, at WGJS, filled up many money tins for our furry friends at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Due to the generous Wynberg family, we managed to collect over R4 700 as well as more than 700 items of food, toys and accessories. A massive thank you must go out to everyone who contributed. The birds have been tweeting, the cats purring and the dogs jumping with joy!
Pyjama Drive for St George’s Home for Girls
At the start of the second term, we were very excited to support St. George’s Home for Girls. St George’s Home for Girls is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre which provides a safe haven for girls between the ages of 3 and 18 who are abused, abandoned, neglected and orphaned.
Our goal was to present these ladies with something to snuggle up in during the chilly season. We are delighted to say that we were able to donate a winter warmer pack, including two pairs of pyjamas and comfy slippers, to each young lady at the home. Not only this, but we were also able to make winter a bit warmer for four other children’s homes around the Southern Suburbs.
Ahuge hug to those who helped make these young ladies feel loved and cared for (and warm!)
this winter! g
Mother’s Day Picnic
As part of our Pyjama drive, we arranged a Mother’s Day picnic for Grade R and 1 girls and their moms. It was a wonderful morning of pyjamas, picnic breakfasts and crafts, and a special time for our youngest girls to celebrate their moms. Everyone, big and small, was dressed snug in their pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers and we were entertained by our WGJS marimba teams.
