Why Has “George Soros Is Dead” Become A Trend?
Because GEORGE Soros is a prominent member of American high society, news of his passing is bound to spread.
George Soros is still alive and healthy despite an absurd hoax that spread online that claimed his death. This is
how it developed.
He is a 92-year- old investor from Nazi-occupied Hungary, George Soros immigrated to England in 1947.
Prior to founding his first hedge fund in 1969, he worked at com- mercial banks in England and the
US while attend- ing the London School of Economics.
Soros started his second hedge fund, Soros Fund Management, in 1970 with the money he made from that.
He became famous and wealthy two
decades ago thanks to a now- iconic deal in which he chal- lenged the Bank of England and cleverly bet on the depreciation of the pound.
Soros actively supports political- ly liberal initia- tives and fre- quently remarks on current affairs
in the world econ- omy.
He is currently married to Tamiko Bolton, the head of a yoga studio, who is 42 years his younger. He has been married three times and divorced twice.
His wealth was estimated to be £5.8 billion after he donated 80% of it to charity.
The billionaire gave £13 billion to Open Society Foundations, a global network of NGOs that focus- es on programs aimed at assisting refugees and pro- moting public health in more than 100 coun- tries.
He had a net worth of almost £16.5 billion prior to the transfer.
George Soros’s death was report- ed as “breaking” news yesterday evening by a con- spiracy theorist going by the han- dle Cillian, who credited the
report to Politics For All Ireland, another conspira- cy account.
Nearly 600,000 people have viewed his tweet from the account CilComLFC, many of whom seem to have fall- en for the omi- nous prank.
Soros is, in fact, still alive and thriving.
Soros’ “death” has previously generated top headlines.
Inadvertently pub- lishing an obitu- ary on Soros in 2013, Reuters.
The news organi- zation swiftly withdrew the report after realiz- ing it was a death hoax.
Following falling for the spooky prank, thousands of conspiracy the- orists from around the world celebrated Soros’s “death” on Twitter.
