Neighbors: ‘Hot Dog Hooker’ Offering Sex-For-Hire Services FromFront Yard
EAST ROCKAWAY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — One Long Island woman is being accused of offer- ing more than just dessert with her lunch special.
Neighbors tell CBS2’s Carolyn Gusoff that Cathy Scalia — dubbed the “Hot Dog Hooker” — is offering her sex-for- hire services once again, but this time from her front yard.
Four years ago, the 49- year-old mother of four boys earned her “Hot Dog Hooker” nickname after pleading guilty to offering sex to undercov- er officers from a hot dog stand. She served five days in jail in 2012 on those charges. Town officials have since shut down the stand.
CBS2 found Scalia lounging in her front yard, clinging to a large pillow offering a topless lap dance inside her home. She said what she does is no different than what happens in strip clubs.
“Lunch and a lap dance, that’s what you get,” Scalia said.
Scalia said that there is no sex involved with her lunch lap dances, claim- ing she just takes dona- tions.
“If I were a belly dancer, would you put me behind bars?” Scalia questioned.
Neighbors have long complained about her as they are currently out- raged that their children can see a scantily-clad Scalia in her front yard.
“She’s an absolute dis- grace to our community,” Lou Amerada told CBS2. “I think it’s more of a mental illness more than anything else.”
Amerada is also con-
cerned about the “sexy sign” that Scalia holds up on her front lawn.
“We have young impressionable children in this neighborhood. We can’t have a woman like this and flashing signs like this in a resi- dential area,” he told CBS2.
Despite Scalia’s claims of innocence, Nassau police have issued a warning to her to not post any signs offering illegal services any- where on her property. They’ve also stepped up their patrols to see if Scalia is running an ille- gal adult cabaret from inside her home.
Scalia, however, doesn’t seem to worried.
“We’re going to change the name, the ‘Hot Dog Hooker,’” she told CBS2. “We’re going to change it to the ‘Hot Dog Honey.’”
Town officials are moni- toring the police investi- gation of neighbors’ complaints.
