 ITM welcomes first
iwi member
With the sale of Tawa ITM comes a first for the cooperative as it welcomes the first iwi members to the ITM whanau.
Soon to be rebranded Toa ITM, the change of ownership fits neatly into what sounds like a significant and go-ahead package of plans that the new owner, Ngati Toa, has laid out for its people and its future.
Says ITM CEO, Darrin Hughes: “While sitting down with Ngati Toa to discuss and evaluate their application to join
the cooperative, we were extremely impressed with their ambitions for the Porirua/Tawa area – particularly their desire to create and manage commercial enterprises on their whenua for the betterment of their iwi and the wider community.
“It became very obvious at an early stage of discussions that the values of ITM and Ngati Toa were very closely aligned with a large emphasis on local support and growth in our communities.
“They will be a valuable part of the ITM fabric with cooperation and family at their heart.”
