                                          Easy clean-up
for outdoor areas
Now available in a convenient trigger pack, Resene Deep Clean is a simple and safe way to keep outdoor areas free from moss, mould, algae and lichen. Simply spray or brush on and leave nature to do the rest. Slow acting Resene Deep Clean gets right down to the roots of the problem, destroying growth and leaving behind a clean surface on exterior concrete, timber and painted surfaces. With the new trigger pack, you simply attach it to your hose and start spraying – no premixing needed and no heavy containers to lug around means you can treat large areas in minutes.

Craig Wilson too has seen nurseries “really struggling” and predicts that it could take two years for them to get back to normal stock levels, even with some of the most used varieties.
“I’m even struggling to get standard Buxus in six packs from one of the biggest growers in Canterbury and a standard Buxus six pack is a bit of a staple item for landscaping.”
WHERE TO FROM HERE?
Some plants and materials may be in tight supply but, says Robert Luijten at Luijten Landscaping, “If there’s a big shortage it’s the same old same old – staff.”
Looking further out, he adds: “I see what’s coming across our desk now and I think next year will be equally as busy as this year... We have three QSs here and we still can’t keep up with the volume of material that comes across the desk!”
Onlandscapes’ Ollie Newman says he is unsure if and when this current home & garden-orientated bubble will burst but what he does know is that as a business he’s trying not to overextend.
Indeed, back at FORM Garden Architecture in Christchurch, Craig Wilson has noted a change among contractors, to do with the weird year we’re all experiencing and the sheer volume of work that’s eventuated after lockdown’s pregnant pause.
“I’ve noticed a bit of contractor fatigue,” he says. “Some
of them are just worn out and I notice that one of two are deliberately not booking into the New Year, because they want a slightly better glide into Christmas.
“The pressure of a Christmas deadline does create massive stress. And so, I noticed a couple of them saying they’re going to manage that stress better this year and not place themselves under so much pressure.”
Good advice perhaps for anyone reading this article.
2020 has been an intense and unusually difficult year for those running a business, for those still in a job and for those who aren’t.
We all need growth to fill the gap caused by lockdown but burning yourself out isn’t the answer.
